A group of seniors in Harrisburg are making friends and supporting each other with a simple task. On Sunday, group members went for a walk at Wildwood Park.

HARRISBURG, Pa. —On Sunday, members of the group went for their weekly walk at Wildwood Park in Harrisburg ."I thought it’d be a great idea for people who like to walk and get out in nature and also enjoy each other's company. And it makes walking more fun," said Tim Hodge , 65, the organizer of the Neighbors Walking Together group on the Nextdoor app.

According to Nextdoor, Hodge started the group nearly three months ago. Since then, he said, the group has bloomed. "It's been a great experience because it's not fun walking by yourself. Going with a group — it’s a community thing," said Lower Paxton Township resident Ginny Reynolds, 76.So far, there are 65 members in the group, all of them being different ages.

"Sometimes, when you’re older, you lose contact with a lot of friends and so this way you get to meet new people," said Reynolds."We get to see the turtles. The turtles are coming out of the mud. Plant life is blooming. Every time we come out, you see something new," said Hodge. For those interested in the group, you can head to the Nextdoor app and search for Neighbors Walking Together. Hodge said there is currently no age limit and that they welcome anyone who wants to join.
