CHICAGO -- Neighbors were out blocking a construction driveway at a proposed migrant tent camp Tuesday morning.It comes after a heated protest last week ended with an alderwoman running for safety.As CBS 2's Sara Machi reported, at least 30 protestors were at 37th and California with signs and American flags to oppose the migrant tent site coming to their neighborhood - preventing construction trucks from entering the vicinity. The proposed site will be built at 38th and California.
Julia Ramirez will hold a community meeting to address the issue Tuesday night. Last week, Ramirez and her aide were allegedly assaulted by protesters. Neighbors said they were upset by a lack of transparency and they felt blindsided. Ald. Ramirez sat down with CBS 2 News on Monday to outline her goals for this meeting.
