Naya Rivera Presumed Dead as Authorities Shift Search to 'Recovery Operation' - E! Online

was found alone on a boat in the middle of California's Lake Piru. Authorities began a rescue mission for Rivera on Wednesday, July 8, but suspended the search at nightfall. The search resumed at daybreak on Thursday, July 9, however, the Ventura County Sheriff's Department now tells NBC that this is now a "recovery operation."

"Upwards of 100 law enforcement and emergency personnel - including several dive teams from Sheriff's Departments around the region - are searching the depths of Lake Piru for the body of Naya Rivera who is missing with all indications she drowned in Lake Piru," the department said Thursday.

No foul play yet no body is found. No signs that anything went wrong. Well someone went missing, so something went wrong. Shaking my head.

I personally didn't know swimming in a lake was harder than swimming in the ocean (due to density) until I experienced it! I consider myself a strong swimmer too! Maybe, she went out too far and tired swimming back? Regardless of what happened it is a terrible tragedy!

The boat was in the middle of the lake and she went in to swim without a life jacket. My cousin did the same thing, got a cramp and drowned. I'm not being insensitive and I'm hoping for the best but they're being realistic. She wasn't found on shore all they can do is find a body

This could be foul play. She rented a large boat (as if she was planning on having guests), and her life vest was found on it. She would not have brought a life vest for herself, if she wasn't planning on using it. Perhaps a 3rd person was w/ them, & they met up w/ them later.
