“Silver Social, a terrace lounge serving contemporary American sharing plates and craft cocktails to customers 21 and older, is now open at 1250 Half Street, Southeast, Washington, D.C. Located on the second floor, the upscale restaurant is hidden within the new Silver Diner. Silver Social’s prime feature is a 50-seat heated, 1,700 square foot outdoor terrace with sweeping views of Nationals Park.
Award-winning Chef and Co-founder Ype Von Hengst has created a specially curated menu sourced from local farms and purveyors. In addition to bar bites, the dinner menu includes gluten free, vegan/plant-based and low-fat options such as hummus, Kale + Firefly Farms Bleu Cheese Salad, Roasted Cauliflower, Street Corn, Beets and Crispy Mashed Potatoes. Buffalo Chicken Tacos, Scallops Romesco and Tuna Tartare are included as sharing sides.
Cocktails are equally impressive with mixologist Richard Torres serving handcrafted, pre-prohibition style cocktails made from DC Spirits and fresh-squeezed juices. The menu includes local craft beers and top wines as well. The restaurant group conducted extensive focus groups with both young residents in the neighborhood and ballpark ticket holders. The groups provided feedback on the concept and then attended multiple menu tastings and provided feedback on the menu. Focus group participants overwhelmingly stated that the neighborhood needed a cocktail lounge with great food and “a great vibe,” not just another restaurant for game day visitors.
We’re excited to be part of the community!
Same vibe.
It is a Silver Diner in a Silver Diner
