Good grief. ..that was like 400 years ago.....

As i have traveled through many reservations in the SW USA and our wonderful National Parks, I am immediately saddened how some of the tribes live and are treated by their own Chiefs. However, i see the same effects on our inner cities.

Land across the globe has always been fought over or conquered viciously. In the process of taking/procuring/winning that fight, people-human beings-were savagely slaughtered, and over time some assimilated into their new culture. It's still happening...

In memory of the Native Americans.

Thanks for the land and genocide America tells everyone else it's the land of free but they've never said SORRY to the native Americans or the reservations they still live on

It would be good if native Americans would celebrate their history and then assimilate with the rest of the country. None of us can help where or how we were born.

The day that Thankgiving was inacted was sad for the indigenous of the world, land grabs , 5 dollar imposters, the worst slave ownership since the begining of time. The worst colonization ever. Yes we say thank you? For what? Thanks giving is the dumbest thing for indgenious.

I understand why they would be mourning because our government in the past has taken their land and forced onto reservations; however the government did more than just that they also forced them into schools make them “ more white” so I don’t blame them for feeling that way

Well that's really stupid because Native Americans and the pilgrims worked together to make both better at the time. What came after well that probably could have been handled better but leave Thanksgiving alone.

I’m Native and I celebrate thanksgiving as a day to be thankful for. Not upset about something that happened so many years ago. I don’t feel that’s what Thanksgiving is about anymore.

PattyArquette I hope did not mean to put this video of last minute Thanksgiving side dishes with an article on United American Indians of New England NationalDayOfMourning mahtowin1

If ONLY they were Native? Who was here in B.C.? Does anyone Know Real History? Progressivism=CANCER it is Infecting ALL who Live in America!!! Time to Teach Real History!

I do wish they taught tma more realistic tale of what happened to the Native Americans and what Thanksgiving means to them and to us.

LuluLemew It's true, but Thanksgiving isn't a holiday about conquering, it's just a holiday to be thankful.

evanrachelwood 😂🤣😂

Not much to say, but the gospel was to be spread through out the world. Obvious that wasn't their 1st intention.

tygrgal Sadly so true then, and now, how they're treated 400 years later. I pray things will change for them.

Reading these comments only proves how many ignorant ethnocentric Americans there are. No wonder your country is in shambles.

Shame to all Americans who are all immigrants, only the native Americans or aka a Indians have the right to claim this country

LuluLemew The Mashpee’s are having their land taken from them by the current administration. I certainly wouldn’t be celebrating that this Thanksgiving. If it wasn’t for them (one of them, literally), the Pilgrims wouldn’t have survived here. Fuck Trump.

Why are they in mourning? Don't know whether I ever knew.

Hindsight is 20/20

I like how you say 'Thanksgiving is nothing to celebrate for Native Americans' as if ALL Native Americans think alike. That's racist, ABC News.

The native Americans I celebrated with today didn't seem to mind.

ABC needs to learn history, not propaganda by select group of people. Truth so misunderstood. Please stop blame game & celebrate life. There were barbarians & friendly cultures yet this Special group found common ground, shared harvest & gave thanks. Happy Thanksgiving to ALL!

Keep waving the bloody shirt and crying in your firewater. That will really get you somewhere!

Well lots of tribes went to war with each other and lost so that sucks but it's the circle of life.

It's almost as if the entire world is built on conquest. 🤔

What makes the redman red

I'll give them 1lbs of glass beads if they'll just STFU and go back home... Worked 600 years ago with their ancestors (oh..and mine too since I'm 1/8th native if we are counting 😜)

Whaaaaa!

Buzzkill

I thank God for changing my life for everything He Has done for me and most of all for saving my soul and I can face tomorrow with peace and joy. Acts 17:30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,

Blame it on the Big Bang Theory.

What, lol

HOLD ON, you’re telling me a more advanced civilization took over and dominated a lesser advanced civilization?!?! This has GOT to be the first tome I’ve heard of somethibg like this. I mean seriously, never in the history of the planet has one civilization taken over another....

Yes... Because Native Americans where the only people who had their land taken from them 300 years ago.

Didn’t know that thanksgiving was a day for Indians to remember

Like Nakba?

The Indians came from Asia; they didn’t own the land! God created the earth and man for his pleasure. It’s an old idea to think that whoever gets here first owns the land. America belongs to whoever can take it and hold it.

While the rest of the country celebrates Thanksgiving Day, we should also stand by native Americans to mourn the loss of their land to the white man. Their land was literally stolen from them, which is sad.

And we should care why?

Interesting that Native Americans aren’t raked over the coals by leftists for daring to bemoan the destruction of their culture the way European Americans are.

They should have built a wall.

Stupid.

Please update the History books to teach the truth.

They would still be living in the 17th century if it wasn't for settlers.

Because if we never arrived, they would've developed the smartphone. That's in their traditional chip manufacturing medicine.

That’s so dumb

Womp womp

Native Americans mark Thanksgiving with day of mourningThanksgiving is nothing to celebrate for Native Americans, who are gathering in the town where the Pilgrims settled for a solemn National Day of Mourning observance. This land is mine as far as my eyes can see (?) So the world keeps getting populated and you think for some reason that you own thousands of square miles of land just because you say it's yours. History proves you own nothing.

Opinion | Two Native Congress members isn't enough to end the violence Native girls faceOpinion | Michelle Chen: Two Native women in Congress isn't enough to end the systemic violence Native girls face. - NBCNewsTHINK THINK Well... I don't see how congress of the United States of America is going to affect the sovereign Native Tribal Lands. Mainly because the 'systemic violence Native girls face' is faced on their tribal land by their tribal peers and elders. THINK Any article with 'systemic' in the headline is bound to be intersectional bullshit. This is no exception. Mathematically, if congress represents the people, there should be 0.78 Native American congresswomen. There are two. They're already overrepresented, not counting Warren.

Oh shut up! 🤐 Leave us alone for a while take a break from the divisiveness let ppl come together so Silliness. Thanksgiving is an act of thanking the Creator for Life and Sustenance. This has been practiced and celebrated by spiritual peoples across the globe for centuries. Native Americans have been at the forefront of these celebrations, long before the arrival of Pilgrims.
