The Latest: UN climate talks agree on reporting emissionsKATOWICE, Poland (AP) — The Latest on the U.N. climate talks in Poland (all times local): 10 p.m. Officials from around the world have agreed upon a set of rules to govern the 2015 Paris climate accord after two weeks of U.N. climate talks in Poland. Michal Kurtyka, a Polish official chairing the talks in Katowice, gaveled the deal Saturday after diplomats and ministers from almost 200 countries approved. The U.N. talks were meant to provide firm guidelines for countries on how to transparently report their greenhouse gas emissions and their efforts to reduce them. Scientists say emissions of gases such as carbon dioxide need to drop sharply by 2030 to prevent potentially catastrophic global warming. The meeting postponed decisions on pledging more ambitious action to fight global warming and on regulating the market for international carbon emissions trading. Didn't see China or India on the list. Also, this happened there This is big news. If this standard is truly adopted and implemented it will be a very useful yardstick.

The Latest: 36 injured, 12 critically in Paris bakery blastPARIS (AP) — The Latest on blast at Paris bakery (all times local): 12:15 p.m. A Paris fire department spokesman says that 36 people, including 12 in critical condition, have been injured in the blast at a bakery that was apparently caused by a gas leak. Paris fire department spokesman Eric Moulin told reporters at the scene that five people were in life-threatening condition, including two firefighters. Paris prosecutor Remy Heitz said 'at this stage we can say it seems from accidental origin, this would be a gas leak.' He said that Paris firefighters were already at the scene for a suspected gas leak on Saturday morning when the explosion happened. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the blast. Witnesses described the overwhelming sound of the blast. Charred debris and broken glass covered the pavement around the apartment building housing the bakery, which resembled a blackened carcass. Heartbreaking.
