The National Week Without Driving is October 2 to October 8, and local organizations are calling on local leaders to ditch their cars and take part. Bike Cleveland, Clevelanders for Public Transit , the Northeast Ohio Coalition of Disability Organizations and Youth Challenge are challenging all Clevelanders to walk or ride to better understand the barriers faced by those without cars.
In addition to walking, taking public transportation, and riding bikes, scooters and skateboards, those participating can even ride in a car—so long as they don’t drive. Organizers want participants to take note of how much riding in a car can cost, “both financially and in favors.”
