NASA shows off early plans to send astronauts to Mars for 30 days

That isn’t possible for only 30 days. There is a 26 month launch window to reach mars and once there they would have to wait for the same launch window to go home. So where did this 30 day story really come from?

The only result will be to prove that humans in a totally contained and controlled environment can survive if they don't go outside and die. Humans cannot live on the surface of Mars. Not just the technological challenges to getting there.
