Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) cited voters' primary concerns as the reason she endorsed former President Donald Trump. The duo has had a love-hate relationship since Mace was elected to her first term in the House in 2019, though they're seemingly on good terms at the moment.

The duo has had a love-hate relationship since Mace was elected to her first term in the House in 2019, though they’re seemingly on good terms at the moment. Mace endorsed Trump instead of, the former governor of her home state of South Carolina, for the GOP’s presidential nomination, while Trump, over the weekend, endorsed Mace for her forthcoming election after backing a primary challenger of hers in 2022.

The South Carolina lawmaker, who was critical of Trump after the Jan. 6 capitol riot, said Sunday on ABC’s“I listened to my voters in South Carolina, and they’ve moved beyond Jan. 6,” Mace said, adding that constituents are asking her about illegal immigration. She described the increase of migrant crossings at the U.S. southern border as “an invasion” and said it was “an actual threat to democracy.

On Sunday, she referenced Biden’s policies as president as a factor she and voters have seemingly changed their minds.“The court cases, the lawsuits, that has nothing to do with you or me, it doesn’t affect the American people. The chaos Joe Biden has created by having a wide open border affects every single American,” she added. “The chaos thathas created over the last three years has made Americans rethink who they want to have as president.

Trump, in the lead-up to the 2022 midterm elections, endorsed Mace’s primary challenger — Katie Arrington — in what became a hotly contested primary Mace prevailed in. This time around, Mace has Trump’s endorsement, but she’s facing another tough reelection campaign.
