Forecasters are calling for highs in the 80s on Monday in New Jersey, a marked change for the sweltering heat the state experienced this weekend.New Jersey will on finally get a long-awaited break Monday from the sweltering conditions that have baked the state for days before temps return to the 90s on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Highs will be in the low-to-mid 80s this afternoon, about normal for later June, forecasters say. The humidity levels will also be noticeably lower and dry conditions are expected. In addition, winds of 10 to 15 mph will gust as high as 25 mph.Monday’s return to highs in the 80s will mark the end of a week-long heat wave in New Jersey. The expected high of 82 in Newark will be the first time since June 16 where the temperatures didn’t reach at least 90 degrees.
Wednesday will be uncomfortably hot with highs in the low 90s that will feel warmer thanks to muggy conditions, the weather service said in its morning forecast discussion. The heat index could approach 100 in parts of the state and forecasters can’t rule out afternoon showers or thunderstorms. Heat advisories might have to be issued.
