A New Jersey man was arrested Thursday after he was accused of shooting another man in the Bronx nearly two weeks earlier, authorities said.

The investigation began on Aug. 20 at 1:54 a.m. when members of the New York Police Department responded to a 911 call of an assault in progress at 200 East Mosholu Parkway, according to a statement from the NYPD. When officers arrived, they found 36-year-old Bronx resident Phillip Martinez with a gunshot wound to the head, and he was rushed to a local hospital for treatment before dying three days later, police said.
