The Mystics will now play at least three games at the 20,000-seat arena. A June 7 game against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever and a July 16 matchup against the Phoenix Mercury were already moved to the larger arena.
Washington’s usual home games, including Tuesday’s home opener against the New York Liberty, are held at the 4,200-seat Entertainment and Sports Arena in Southeast. “The move to Capital One Arena will allow for additional fans in the stands as well as premium hospitality options,” the team said in a news release.Season ticket holders will be assigned seats similar to where they would’ve been at the smaller arena. Fans who have already bought a single-game ticket will be able to choose their new seat.
“To look back and see how far we’ve come with the viewership numbers coming up, with the growth of the , and more awareness … I’m just super grateful to be a part of that,” Mystics rookie Aaliyah Edwards said during training camp. “We’ve been growing the game.”
