My kid got COVID at school. On his 4th day.

After his fourth day of school, my first grader went to bed feeling warm. That night he woke up sobbing and 102 degrees. I thought it was just us catching up with all the germs we missed out on last year. He earned his first-ever trip to the COVID test site. Nasty little shock when his nose swab came back positive.The school isn’t requiring his class to quarantine. The school isn’t even requiring everyone to get tested. This is the land of the free, the home of the brave.

And then the school nurse had the nerve to say, Oh, he might have gotten it somewhere else. Way to piss off a mom who’s kept her kids COVID-free for 1½ years. There were no plane trips, no pod friends, no eating in restaurants, no in-person school or camp since the beginning of the pandemic. It’ll be three years before we’ll see my family on the East Coast; they won’t even recognize this string bean of a kid.

The nurse recommended quarantining my COVID patient. Unclear whether she’s worked with human children. He’s 6. I can’t exactly shut him in a room by himself for 10 days.

These responses suck. Yes children get sick all the time, But this is a different time. Does anyone realize the toll this pandemic has on kids? My 9 yr old grandson has covid. Not only does he feel like total crap it also effects them mentally. (1)

Hope he is doing good and no one else in his family got sick.

There are long-term (negative) effects of COVID.. learning disabilities.. is it expected that referrals for Special Ed services in the school will sky-rocket?

Covid is not a new virus, people got it and get treated. The 19 added is for a different agenda.

Praying for recovery for all sick kids

My kid got walking PNA from a kid in preschool. Almost hospitalized. Kids get sick helps build immune systems. I give my kids Vit D Zinc & Elderberry. Most kids have mild symptoms & fair well with COVID. We need to stop these scare tactics. Mental issues more damaging than COVID

Ugh, these responses remind me why I really dislike people.

I sent my child to daycare and he got Hand Foot and Mouth which lasted as long as your covid case. It happens. Kids get sick. They’ll be OK in the vast vast vast vast majority of cases. Guess what, they don’t have a vaccine for HFM? You gonna request that next?

the elementary school in seattle with the highest number of current covid cases stands at 7. my kids are in SPS. there is no outbreak. your kid got it elsewhere, but way to throw a likely part-time school nurse under the bus in a national publication for clout.

I hope he gets better soon. My youngest grandson was exposed at school. The school said that he was out of school for 5 days but his brother had to go to school. My daughter is not sending my other grandchild either. REALLY they live in the same house.

That's why everyone who can, MUST GET VACCINATED!!! It's all about protecting not only ourselves but those who cannot be vaxed this juncture!!!

Why are we not on lockdown? How many deaths does it take? I know people want normalcy, but isn't your life worth more than being surrounded by crowds of unvaccinated, untested, vaccinated but carriers of the virus? I know my life is valuable. Is yours?

The incubation period for COVID-19 and all the variants is 2 to 14 days and he started showing symptoms after 4 days of school ?... Did the contact tracing lead to the school being the source and exclude any of his contacts from the previous 10 days ?

I’m sure his mask was over his snotty nose the whole time. Confident he didn’t rub his eyes or lick a doorknob. Covid is here to stay and the child will be just fine.

They say a lot. Government vaccine narrative. I was a victim of it in 1976 when Gerald Ford pushed the swine flu vaccine and I ended up disabled for a decade with lifelong health issues. I was 22 at the time. The last time I ever listened to the government.
