Palestinian supporters and members of the Muslim community said the mayor has voiced his support for Israel and they plan to continue making their voices heard.

HOUSTON — As tensions in the Middle East between Israel and Gaza rage on, those tensions are now reaching new heights here on the home front among those in Houston's Muslim community. "A lot of politicians, especially in the state and to a large extent in the city, are not listening to us and they don't want to hear us," said William White, director of the Council on American Islamic Relations in Houston.

"We want to be heard in our fight for a ceasefire and we want everybody, again, dogcatcher up to the president. 34,000 people is too many. One person is too many to have been indiscriminately killed," he said. KHOU 11 News reached out to Whitmire's office, which sent us a statement not addressing the ongoing conflict, but saying in part:
