Musk Mates: Tesla Owners Could Get Their Own Dating App

If you drive a Tesla and feel unfulfilled because you’re always riding solo, a Self-proclaimed Canadian e-commerce entrepreneur says he may have the answer to your singular woes. The brainchild of someone named Ajitpal Grewal, a supposedly coming smartphone app called Tesla Dating will would look to bring lonely and like-minded Tesla-philes together.

Grewal reportedly came up with the concept—reports say it was initially as a joke—after realizing how much Tesla owners loved to talk about their vehicles. The idea is that users would have a common interest as a conversation starter to share experiences and opinions. Hey, that’s a better way to start an evening or phone conversation than asking what a person’s sign is, where he or she works, or whether or not they still live at home.

If it in fact comes to fruition, the app’s release date could be a ways off, and is in question given the uncertain state of dating in the Coronavirus era. Still, Grewal recently put up a that floats the idea, and where hard core Elon Musk-ovites can sign up for early access. Proof of ownership will eventually be required, however, likely by an applicant submitting a selfie sitting in his or her Tesla.

Whether this will actually come to fruition and find a fair number of lovelorn Tesla owners, or it remains a well-positioned joke is anybody’s guess at this point, so stay tuned.... [+]Patrick T. Fallon/Bloomberg
