Iris Zahara died June 3 at age 90 and people came from all over to pay respects at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home and Infant Jesus of Prague June 7-8. Zahara was the wife of the later Paul Zahara and mother of Rebecca Shafir, Susan Troppoli, Jamie Zahara, Jodie Brugler and Trojan and all were a part of the music and arts scene at Homewood-Flossmoor High School.“She had a way of ingraining passion into her students unlike anyone else,” Trojan said. “She would hit all age groups. During the school hours, she would have some adults. After school hours and all day Saturday kids would study with her. Some would study 15 years with her.
