A mother has spoken of her shock when her daughter's first experience of water skiing ended with a close encounter with a killer whale.
The driver of the boat then noticed a dark shadow moving ominously under the water close to the vessel, about 15 feet in front of her. An orca is pictured near the Norwegian northern city of Tromso in the Arctic Circle in this illustrative image. A mother has shared video of her six-year-old daughter water skiiing in New Zealand when a pod of orca appeared suddenly. Her mother, Natalie Kepa later told reporters:"Stella was just cruising along and then out of the corner of my eye I saw this massive orca going next to Stella and I just didn't even know what to do.
The group on the boat, which included members of three families on holiday, hastily returned to the jetty in Kumutoto Bay, where Stella's dad Luke was waiting and the girl was spirited to safety.
It'd be unnerving for sure. Could take solace that there's never been a recorded human fatality with wild orcas (only in captivity... hint hint).
Orcas have never attacked humans
Well, if the mother shared it why didn’t you?!
How about a lake? Hello?
It’s the whale’s home. What do you expect them to do. Hey, tell the “terrified” mother to take her 6 year old water skiing somewhere else. Like maybe a lake?
Mom might need some parenting help, before her child gets hurt!
Why the hell is a 6yo water skiing out there.. theres lakes!
Headline should read “Terrible mother allows her 6 year old child to paddle board in an Orca wilderness area! No injuries occurred.”
This headline perpetuates the myth of killer whales being a threat to humans. Precisely ZERO people have been killed by killer whales in the wild. You could have gone with education, but instead you went with clickbait. smdh
Why was she out there by herself
DW_Belknap Wait, wut, how in the, skiing, a killer whale? Newsweek are you high? First how to tell your kids about killing a terrorist, now Killer whale hunts girl water skiing. She better be in a wetsuit then!!! A) it will keep her warm B) looks more like a seal! 🤔🧐😂
Mother shares video of predictable orca behavior as humans recreate in animal's native habitat. FTFY.
Lurking. Interesting. It’s the shark being infringed upon no?
