The Rutgers-Eagleton Poll found nearly 6 in 10 New Jersey residents say the Garden State is an “excellent” or 'good' place to live.

The majority of New Jerseyans like living here, but more than a third say they’d like to move out, a new poll has found.

Koning said three-quarters of the state called New Jersey an excellent or good place to live in the mid-1990s and early 2000s while 80% said the same in the mid- to late 1980s. “New Jerseyans’ desire to move has increased by double digits over the last decade,” Koning said. “These latest numbers set an all-time high in the poll’s history of asking this question for those who want to move out of state and an all-time low for those who want to stay.”

Overall, 70% of residents think their individual town or city in New Jersey is an “excellent” or “good” place to live, while 75% say the same about their neighborhood . When it comes to employment and industry, two-thirds say New Jersey is an “excellent” or “good” place to find a job, and half say it is an “excellent” or “good” place to run a business.“Views on New Jersey as a place to raise a family, get an education, enjoy entertainment, find a job, run a business, and even retire have gone up since last measured in 2015,” Koning said.

Great place to live other than the taxes/cost of living and our 🤡 of a Governor

Yup, we keep voting in the wrong people

Too expensive for retirees

How they come up 1/3 of them, or 2/3 are willing to stay and live in NJ. I live in NJ but I do not receive the questionnaire or survey. How many they asked ?

EL OH EL. New Jersey sucks.

I love NJ. Taxes are really high as a new retiree I was slammed with taxes. The state is becoming over crowded with many of the population not paying taxes and living off of the dole… large communities of row housing destroying the beauty and the political machine letting it!

Yes me being one of the third!!! Murphy destroyed my state I was born in!!!!!

Taxes are Very High I left 11 years ago But I Do Miss My Home State, but not $8.00 for a pack of cigarettes

They don't WANT to leave...they are being priced out and displaced.

I ❤️NJ

Let them go, bye

Bye!

I’ll believe people are moving out when there’s no traffic between 7am to 6pm.

Taxes too high.

Buh bye

To be fair, none of these numbers are shocking. Pardon the pun, but as someone born and raised in NJ (and a current resident), Jersey has always been a polar place to live. Drive one end to the other, you’ll see both extremes… and even cross the Mason-Dixon Line 🤦🏼‍♀️

Taxes are a bitch

The grass is always greener.

I love NJ. It’s a great place to live…if you are financially wealthy. I am not. Two months ago I left the state do to the fact that the traffic and expense was too much to deal with.

Funny how the people who always complain that NJ is a terrible state continue to live here and don’t actually move. What happened to “if you don’t like it then leave”? We won’t miss you.

And yet real estate market in NJ is super hot…hmmmm.

🤣🤣🤣

Just moved out earlier this month. Sold our house for a price my husband and I could not afford ourselves, wish the new owners all the luck (and sorry about those property taxes!)

Then leave. It’s a free(ish) country!

Bye Felicia 👋🏿

Cause it sucks. I went from having a home to taking care of my dad till he passed away I was left with nothing became homeless and jumped robbed jumped some more an giving crazy 2 1500 dollar fines and 3 years of fines for getting the fines like wtf. Crooked ass Northfield NJ.

Typical NJ: 'I hate it here!' 'Then move.' 'I hate it there more!'

Very expensive and property taxes are high. Especially for people on fixed income.

Only reason we want to leave is because taxes are unnecessarily high.

I don't want to leave, I HAVE to leave. Who can retire here with $20k taxes! Its fcking outrageous.

Is a great place to live but the cost of living that life is really expensive.

It would be interesting to see if this poll could be compared with other states. I think you will find this has more to do with an overall increase in the transience of people of the current day versus earlier times.

I've noticed, a lot of Philadelphians have migrated to NJ, as of late! Bringing their ways over here! Nothing is wrong, looking for a better life, elsewhere! So, I'm contemplating it, as well!

I left, beat thing for me.

Taxes too damn high

Same article every other week but everyone is still moving here. New houses and condos everywhere. Most people are full of shit

I left six years ago. Best fucking thing I've done!

Shows how these polls are a farce,,est thing I did was leave nj

Maybe because the real estate market is insane.

Well obviously bc Murphy killed this state

The Great Tax State.

Good place to work, worst place to retire

Place sucks. Ready for the ‘just move’ replies.

It’s a very good place to live, but you don’t get enough for how much things cost there…

If you call it pork roll leave immediately

About a third of New Jerseyans would fit in well in Florida.

Then leave lol. If you dont like your state or the country.. LEAVE 🤣🤡

We have our issues but there’s no better than Jersey strong! Down the shore……Taylor Ham/Pork Roll….best pizza ANYWHERE! Go New Jersey!

🙄 this was definitely not fact-checked. Maybe the circle of liberals that you ask like it here! Try being unbiased with yur polls and you might get the truth

Taxes…taxes….taxes 😡

1/3 Thanks to Killer Murphy

Property taxes are too damn high $20k/yr on avg

They should leave, then. It’ll reduce congestion during the morning and evening commute.

Yeah all the ones who can’t hack it here!!!! Safe travels to Florida!!!!
