In a new CBS News Poll, most Americans think changes to policing are necessary

/ CBS Newsof police procedures, large bipartisan majorities believe at least some changes are necessary. Partisans do differ on the extent of change needed and the urgency of police reform generally: Democrats say major changes are needed; Republicans say minor ones would suffice. Democrats consider police reform a high priority; Republicans, less so.

People's feelings about police in their own community are related to their views on the need for police reform more broadly. Race has long played a role in views of police. Black Americans are more apt to report feeling a mix of both protected and threatened by police in their area, whereas most White Americans feel just protected.

More funding and more training.

Absolutely!!! Teach them how to refrain from killing African Americans!

VP Kamala Harris helped author The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act when she was a senator. It easily passed the Democratic-led House at the time. Momentum for any chance of it passing the Senate fell apart when Senator Tim Scott (R-S. Carolina) dropped his support for it.

bad policing effects everyone not just black folks. Media is fueled by commercialism so certain things get emphasized even when it’s more widespread if you didn’t know better you might think only black men get killed white girls disappear and brown folks are immigrating here

Ok excuse me what ?

Step one: require malpractice insurance for LEOs🤷‍♂️

Probably meaningless changes! Get rid of impunity and the police union! Giving someone power and protection makes them invincible! No one should have that power! The President doesn’t have that power!

Changes in the educational system are needed. People who can't keep issues in perspective are the true problem.

Mandatory psychological testing every two years. In big cities, that job has to mess you up. At minimum, they need regular puppy therapy.

Get rid of qualified immunity... that's the change that's long overdue.

Blue lies matter plan & simple!

This should turn out well.

We think there needs to be criminal reform. Get them off the streets for a long time.

How so

Hiw so

You think?

Did the poll ask what should happen to an individual who physically/violently resists lawful instructions/orders? Just wondering…

Changes to criminals should change to, not just policing

75% of Americans support restrictions on abortion after 15 weeks, 80% of Americans suppose transgender indoctrination of elementary school children. Over 90% of Americans don't want electric vehicles, why don't you show these polls?

I think we witnessed so many mistakes and corruptions… time to change things!

Do most Americans think there needs to be changes in the way criminals behave?

Absolutely! Let the do their jobs, stop pandering to the criminals, especially the black hoodlums! Enough is enough of all the non compliance by the criminals!

The average US citizen's IQ is 98. The average IQ of a police officer is around 110.

We should want criminals to change.

Changes are needed in the households where these events occur. The communities are trash.

Federal government does not need to be involved in local and state police departments.

It's a reactionary poll.

Step 1) get rid of most the good cops and many of the bad Step 2) take away the ability for people to defend themselves Result: people who beg the government to save them and will give up every right for that safety

Or or or how bout people just follow the law

Yes more training and better training.

Changes to criminals and gangs is a must need too but don't hear anyone screaming about that
