The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Thursday that it would allow children of married same-sex parents to be baptized as part of a reversal of a 2015 policy that labeled gay couples as apostates—or those who have renounced the faith.
Same-sex marriage will now be considered a “serious transgression,” equivalent to any sexual relationship outside of a Church-condoned marriage, the church said.
