Over 20 people were arrested in a two-day illicit drug interdiction operation that took place along the Jordan River trail. Officers of the Salt Lake City Police Department said they worked with the Utah Department of Corrections Adult Probation and Parole unit to conduct the operation over Saturday, June 15, and Wednesday, June 19.
In the end, more than 20 people were arrested. Officers also seized a stockpile of drugs, which included methamphetamine, over 500 fentanyl pills, and marijuana. More than $2,000 in cash and two illegally possessed guns were also recovered.Salt Lake resident appeals for action over Jordan River Trail safety issuesPolice stated that “the overall objective of this operation was to identify, locate, and arrest drug dealers, traffickers, and buyers along the Jordan River Trail.
Due to increased criminal activity, SLCPD’s increased enforcement along the Jordan River Trail and nearby communities began in Oct. of 2023.The department’s Central Bike Squad, Intelligence Center, Liberty Bike Squad, Pioneer Bike Squad, Pioneer Patrol Division, and Public Relations Unit all assisted in this most recent operation.
