A long-awaited report into the Grenfell Tower fire has claimed that there were “systemic failings” in the response of emergency services to the blaze and “many more lives” could have been saved.

Although the report acknowledges that the internal layout of the building meant a mass evacuation presented “serious risks,” in the face of the “pervasive spread of smoke and fire throughout the interior, prompt evacuation would have resulted in the saving of many more lives.” Survivors’ groups have welcomed the publication of the report, the first phase of a parliamentary inquiry into the blaze which claimed 72 lives at the 24 story tower block on June 14, 2017.

StandWithLFB The report is trying to put blame on the London Fire Brigade and taking the blame off the council who made the building dangerous to begin with.

Failings by London fire chiefs led to lives being lost in Grenfell blaze: reportGrave failings by the London Fire Brigade in its handling of the Grenfell Tower ... Where is the other headline? 'Failings by building regulators and local politicians led to construction of a death trap'. Shameful. Reuters breaking the embargo by regurgitating the Telegraph report and not the official report ? What a nonsense. In the first place the one who choose for extreme burning wall cladding is responsible. And maybe the ones who check this and approved.

London Fire Brigade failings worsened Grenfell Tower death toll: reportA public inquiry into London's Grenfell Tower disaster says that fire commanders waited too long before ordering residents to evacuate the building. Instead, they were told to stay in their homes I expected that the root cause of the fire & the reasons it spread so fast would be the goal of the phase 1 enquiry. Not trying to blame the LFB because they gave advice which was based on good practice and should have worked if the root cause of the spread wasn't there. What about those in power who decided to clad the tower and ignored warnings about fire safety? Instead we shame, blame and scapegoat frontline public services. Shameful
