MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Local faith leaders gathered together with community members and first responders Saturday morning to host a prayer meeting addressing a range of topics, from community unity to spiritual leadership. It was supposed to be a prayer walk, but faith leaders had no problem adapting to a prayer meeting due to rain.
The event is hosted annually to spread a positive message in the Seth Johnson Neighborhood, which includes around 1,700 families and stretches from the Southern Boulevard to Norman Bridge Road. Keith Moore is the Director of Montgomery’s Office of Violence Prevention, but he also serves as Pastor of iMpact Christian Church. He hopes that events like these can inspire change to help curb violence.
“If we could get core values that would say I’m going to treat you with honesty, respect, and all the due benevolence I can give to you, the love that God has given us in our hearts, then I won’t take your life, I’ll treat you better,” Moore expressed.“We can make Montgomery a better place,” Moore said."We’re not the worst city in the world. We’ve got things that we have to do to continue to grow, but it’s going to take all of us working together. This is an ‘our’ problem.
The event was hosted at Narrow Lane Community Baptist Church who partnered with Our Montgomery Faith and Community Alliance.
