New Caney beat Aldine Eisenhower, 28-6, in last week’s bi-district matchup to secure an area playoff appearance for the first time since 2018. The 11 wins are a program-best for New Caney. Star running back Kedrick Reescano rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries. Overall, Reescano has 1,765 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns this year. New Caney held Eisenhower to 88 yards of total offense and is allowing just 12.9 points per game this season.
Lake Creek won its first playoff game in program history last Friday as it topped Texas City 25-7 on a damp, cold and windy night at MISD Stadium. Lake Creek has now held six out of its last eight opponents to seven points or less. While the defense is averaging 54 points per game, the defense is allowing 19.5 points per game. Sophomore Tyvonn Byars is up to 35 touchdowns on the season after scoring all three of the Lions’ touchdowns against the Stingarees. He is over the 2,000-yard mark.
