These early results, published in the New England Journal of Medicine on Tuesday, showed that the vaccine worked to trigger an immune response with mild side effects -- fatigue, chills, headache, muscle pain, pain at the injection site -- becoming the first US vaccine candidate to publish results in a peer-reviewed medical journal The vaccine is expected to begin later this month a large Phase 3 trial -- the final trial stage before regulators consider whether to make the vaccine available.
The most commonly reported systemic adverse events following second vaccination at the 100-microgram dose were fatigue, among 80%; chills, among 80%; headache, among 60%; and myalgia or muscle pain, among 53%; all of which were transient and mild or moderate in severity, as noted in Moderna's press release. A coronavirus vaccine is still months away, but an antibody treatment could be closer The study data also showed that the vaccine induced an antibody response.
Why expert is cautious about Covid-19 vaccine trial results 02:22But more research is needed."What do we really want to know? We want to know whether the vaccine is safe and effective, that's what we want to know," said Dr. Paul Offit, a member of the NIH panel that's setting a framework for vaccine studies in the United States, who was not involved in the new study.
Overall,"the safety and immunogenicity data in this preliminary report are promising, and they support continued development of this vaccine. However, we must bear in mind the complexity of vaccine development and the work still to be done before Covid-19 vaccines are widely available," Dr. Penny Heaton, chief executive officer of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, wrote in an editorial accompanying the Phase 1 study in the New England Journal of Medicine on Tuesday.

CNN literally STOPPED THE LIVE DIFFUSION OF POTUS 's speech because he starts to unveil the far-left socialists BIDEN's agenda
Hi, does moderna vaccine work for an infected person?
What about severity. Mild patients are getting well due to having good immunity.
Still won't be available until after the election. Some don't want President Trump to have any type of win.... economy back, unemployment back ect........
Let Bill Gates and Dr Fauci be the first ones to take the vaccine.
Glad Trump hasnt talked about it. Y'all woulda said its erroneous and let peopel die
Excellent. While more testing may still be required, at least the Phase 1 has proved to be successful. drsanjaygupta AliVelshi davidaxelrod Susan_Hennessey
That's my definition of promising.
Mild side effects 'mild side effects -- fatigue, chills, headache, muscle pain, pain at the injection site' Of all the vaccines I've had in my life, except for pain at injection site, I didn't have any of those.

The Leftists are nervous now. Their feat-mongering is losing steam
Alas, immunity to covid lasts only few months. No conventionnal vaccine can be sustainably effective.
We need to wait and be patient. Even if is safe and effective it will still take a 18 months to get out to the General population.
I hope the vaccine is like the mask, your choice, I think team trump would go for that.
How much immune response? How long does it last? What percentage of people does it actually work on? Does it work on seniors, who in general have the weakest immune systems? How much will it cost? How will it be distributed? Who gets it first? Inquiring minds want to know
Fingers and toes crossed for continued succes. Trying to live through a pandemic without a vaccine/cure was obviously never on anyone’s bucket list.
Mild side effects? Like howling at the moon?
