Mobile Police Major fires back at Kenyen Brown report slamming officers

) - Mobile Police Major Phillip McCrary is responding back hours after the highly anticipated report on the Mobile Police Department was released.

Tuesday evening former U.S. Attorney Kenyen Brown made his report on MPD’s policies, practices, and procedures available to the public. In Brown’s report, it cites excessive use of force, repeated use of bad language, and unconstitutional methods.I vowed to you that if anyone attacks the honor and integrity of this department I will not sit quietly. The entire command staff shares these same sentiments. The command staff is having a voluntary meeting this afternoon to discuss the avenue we will use to address these issues. I will tell you Mr. Brown’s report has numerous inaccuracies, assumptions, and legal violations.

During an interview with a member of MPD of MPD stated directly to Attorney Kenyen Brown and Dr. Powers that Mr. Jawan Dallas was “a piece of sh**.” This is indicative of a serious problem with MPD leadership and culture. The command officer in this interview did not say this. This can be validated by our legal advisor who was present in the interview.Major McCrary declined to for interviews in the letter, but he says he will be addressing the citizens of Mobile with a report next week.
