Haines added of Smith: “He’s awesome. There is not a better guy than Jason. He will do great things. We have some really good players, and they will continue to have success.”“I think I’m ready for something different,” he said. “I’m kind of pursuing some other things. I’ve been in baseball most of my life, either coaching or playing. It’s all I’ve ever known, but I think I’m ready for a change.
