Major League Baseball announced that the player was ineligible to play for a year after the bets came to light.D-backs pitcher Andrew Saalfrank leaves the game against the Phillies during Game 4 of the NLCS in Phoenix recently revealed that an Arizona Diamondbacks player had placed dozens of sports bets in violation of the organization's rules and policies.
Saalfrank was contracted with the team while the bets were placed. He was one of five players penalized by the organization. "All of the players denied that they had any inside information relevant to the bets or that any of the baseball games they bet on were compromised or manipulated, and the betting data does not suggest that any outcomes in the baseball games on which they placed bets were compromised, influenced, or manipulated in any way," read a statement from MLB.
