Ralph Yarl, a Black 16-year-old, was recovering in hospital on Monday with gunshot wounds to the head and arm after he knocked on the door of the wrong house just before 10 pm on Thursday, according to his family's lawyers and police.
The teenager’s parents asked him to pick up his twin siblings at an address on 115th Terrace in Kansas City, but he mistakenly went to a residence on 115th Street where he was shot, police and local media reported. Lawyers for the wounded boy's family in a statement said Yarl was shot by a "white male assailant" and demanded “swift action from Clay County prosecutors and law enforcement to identify, arrest and prosecute to the full extent of the law the man responsible for this horrendous and unjustifiable shooting.”
It's MENTAL ILLNESS to believe Guns are solutions to all your fears. If someone knocks on your front door at night, you could stand at a safe distance & ask questions, rather than shooting. The knocker could have been in need of help (or an Honest Mistake). Please, be Human.
🙏🏼🤍🕯😔
20 miles out of his way....hhmmm
Hope and pray he pulls through 🙏
Won't be long before freshman are getting shot for accidentally going to the wrong classroom.
What could this homeowner be protecting against, I'm sure this kid wasn't threatening or menacing that man's family when ringing the doorbell or God forbid, KNOCKING ‼️
The article never mentions if he entered the home or was in the yard, which is the key info we needed to make a judgement here. Instead, we get the typical racial callouts.
This is distressing, I think the teenager must have explained it to the homeowner, but the homeowner insisted on killing him.
I live in Kansas city. This is a greek tragedy. But folks don't be doing that in Kansas city.
Nothing hurt like injustice death... Condolences for the family and friend
Shot a teen.... what kind of human do that. Prayers for his family🙏
😐😪
This is really sad and sick!
People don't appreciate what 'I like this tweet' really means.
Stand your ground only works if someone is trying to force entry. Ringing a door bell doesn't count.
I don't see how this 'stand your ground law' is ANY defence against shooting at someone merely for ringing your doorbell?!! Or is it OK simply because that someone is black?!!
So the shooter is 87 years old. I’m sure he has some form of dementia.
Yarl was supposed to pick up his siblings at 115th Terrace but he rang the doorbell at 115th Street
*shot in the head and shot again when on the ground bleed out. Fixed it for you.
Adjectives get capitalized now?
Here comes all the “Say NO to guns and YES to Crime!!” People saying that the teenager should have been allowed to enter the random house without restrictions
Too many scared people with guns these days. LaPierre should just GIVE everyone their own pistol at this point.
Terrible
He wasn’t an intruder. He pulled in the driveway and rang the doorbell. That’s not being an intruder. He’s just a kid.
