He acknowledged that severe COVID-19 cases do rarely occur in children and that the state has had a handful of children die from the virus.

"For those under 12 that are not currently eligible for the vaccine, it is highly unusual for there to be any significant effects," Reeves said. "I have confidence that the individual school district around Mississippi are taking all of the local factors into account," Reeves said. Throughout the state, more than 4,400 students are in quarantine after being exposed to the virus, Dobbs said during the press conference. Reeves said the majority of students remain in the classroom.

Most child death is considered unusual nowadays.

I cannot, for the life of me, understand how quality of learning takes precedence over the life of even a single child. I just cannot.
