Per the outlet, Toledo resident Neveah Smith found Hines wandering her neighborhood without a collar on and brought him to the Toledo Humane Society Clinic, where an employee discovered he was microchipped and reached out to Landis to let her know her pet was safe. “It’s the best birthday present to get little Hines-y back,” she told the outlet. “You guys don’t know how much this means to us."
“This is one of the main reasons we want to get everyone microchipped ... be able to get pets back to their owner, should it run away or should someone take it. And in this case it was a beautiful, beautiful reunion,” she said.
