First responder holds woman's hand as they work to extricate her from her car after a massive oak tree fell on her car -- trapping her in passenger's seat.) - As the storms passed through Etowah County Friday morning -- a woman’s desperate call for help -- was met by multiple agencies. The woman was trapped in her car after a huge oak tree fell and crushed the vehicle around her.Piedmont Rescue & EMS -- just one of many agencies responding.
As a backhoe is put in place to support the massive tree so they can begin extrication -- the victim is alert -- as a first responder holds her hand as they walked her through every move during the rescue. Amazingly she only had minor injuries and was taken to a hospital to be checked out. Brown says had she been in the driver’s seat -- this would have been an entirely different response.
And we want to give all of those agencies credit. In addition to Piedmont Rescue & EMS -- there were Ball Play 1 Fire, Ball Play Bend, Hokes Bluff Fire, Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, Hokes Bluff Police, Fords Valley Water Coop, Hokes Bluff Public Works, Fagan’s, and Greg Simms.
