"We understand the work that we need to do and the generational pain that went into what happened with George Floyd and that murder," the governor said Saturday. "But at this point in time, nothing we do to address those inequities, nothing we do to provide justice to George Floyd and his family that I spoke with last evening — none of those things matter to any of these people who are out there firing upon National Guard, burning businesses of our communities and making intent on disrupting any semblance of civil life."
The Pentagon has also placed as many as 800 members of the military police on prepare-to-deploy orders, a U.S. official confirmed to NPR. The officers would be available to assist with logistics, analysis or surveillance if requested by the governor. More than 1,000 additional Citizen-Soldiers and Airmen are activating today. This is in addition to the 700 that were on duty as of late last night. This represents the largest domestic deployment in the Minnesota’s National Guard’s 164-year history.
Nobody said change was easy.
What will be their rules of engagement? Will they be armed?

So, just to be clear, we have suburban MAGA cops rioting and looting, the governor calls out the national guard to protect people, and the president threatens to violate Posse Comitatus to use federal troops to support the rioting cops against the state militia. I can't even.
Riots, they are riots, not 'protests.'

This is frightening, especially because the vast majority of destruction issuing forth from Minneapolis, has little to do with peaceful protests and the tragedy of GeorgeFloyd.
Just let it burn. Then rebuild. The damn National Guard will not solve anything.

PROTESTORS: Stay organized, peaceful, and united. Don’t allow either police or outside infiltrators to escalate this to violence or wanton destruction. That only serves the narrative of the white nationalist Right - and they know it, and they will stoke it themselves. RESIST.
