The previous record for the most valuable trading card ever sold was the T206 Honus Wagner card, which was purchased for $3.12 million in September of 2016.

The card is in mint condition, graded by Beckett Grading Service as a Mint 9, and a distinctive logo on the card's front states,"Certified Autograph Issue," which serves as the company'sGoldin Auctions put the card on the auction block late last month with a minimum bid of $1 million, and there were expectations within the industry that it could set a record.
