Bloomberg, the billionaire former mayor of New York, has indicated to associates in recent weeks that Joe Biden's recent struggles against Sen. Elizabeth Warren are making him rethink his decision to stay out of the 2020 Democratic primary. That's according to people familiar with the discussions who spoke on condition of anonymity because the conversations were deemed private.
Bloomberg has signaled he's "still looking at" running for president, but people close him say that the only way he could even go down that path is if Biden's fortunes suffer so much that he drops out before or during the early stages of the primary. Bloomberg could then enter the race as one of the rare moderates with enough name recognition and campaign funding to make a run. Forbes estimates his net worth at $51 billion, and"I think it's something he wants.
"He's like everyone else. They can't get it out of their system," said a banking executive who has known Bloomberg for decades. "Bloomberg is in if Biden is out," said another New York billionaire with ties to Bloomberg.again one month before the party's triumph in the 2018 midterm congressional elections, during which Bloomberg was a big donor. He has said he would run as a Democrat if he pursued the White House this time.
Pass on a message. Go away, Bloomberg.
I thought Tom Steyer was running in your place. You know, the billionaire business man who probably has no new ideas, that demographic is all set, son.
Lol
Yes, please!
it’s never too late but unfortunately absolutely no chance! Trump is by far the best president since Ronald Reagan. Dems and Trump haters are getting crazy.
jimmy_dore TulsiGabbard does money buy a pass on the dnc polling requirements?
Wait....the debate has polling requirements, that’s why the said TulsiGabbard couldn’t get in to the 3rd debate. If the dnc permits this shenanigan then the dnc didn’t learn from 2016. Bernie/Tulsi or bust.
Too funny all of the ultra liberals tweeting their displeasure over Bloomberg running. Actually he would stand a better chance of winning than any of the current crop of leftist democrat Candidates.
Run MikeBloomberg
Thank you no thank you.
Bloomberg held a fundraiser for RepPeteKing, a huge Trump supporter. Unless he is running as a Republican he should sit this one out.
Tom_Winter Old oligarchs ego. Is he 80 yet?
So sick of these rich old white guys who think they can save the world because they are rich. No thanks, Bloomberg.
Wow. Bloomberg - the 51 billion-dollar bore - who taxed the bejesus out of cigarette smokers (maj of whom are working-class) and punished selling 'loosies' like it's street crack/ throwing the poors in prison - he might run to avoid paying Warren's 2% wealth tax. Good luck, Mike
A better choise for us, not trump and not super freezing leftist
That's cool but has he considered killing himself?
ENOUGH with the old rich white guys! Have you not seen the destruction resulting from these policies? We have medical debt. That is immoral. Its time you step aside...
Mayor Stop N Frisk can have a thousand seats.
Tom_Winter Old rich white man threatens to help Trump win re-election if he must pay 2 cents extra on every dollar over 50 million.
Tom_Winter JFC NO. NO. NO.
Tom_Winter Hell no!
No interest. Zero.
He'd have my vote in a primary.
It’s noise until he runs _then it’s news
He wouldn't even carry NYC! All I have to say is Stop and Frisk!
We Don’t Need A Sideline Should I Could I Last Minute Presidential Runner. 🧐🤪🤩
Oh for cryin out loud
Make it stop!
Good Lord!!...never liked Bloomberg...he most likely is one the so called Democrats who would vote for trump over Warren..
How about you back ewarren instead?
Bloomberg does this every 4 years before realizing snowballs stand better chances in hell.
yippee, Howard Schultz 2.0!
No.
No thanks, Mike. The race will already feature one-too-many Manhattan plutocrats.
Better Michael Bloomberg than michael obama!
Go do something else.
Another geriatric. What is it with American politicians, go fishing or take up golf or something!
On one hand - No. But, on the other hand - NO!
As a Democrat or as an independent?
What could be wrong about electing another businessman for president...
Hopefully!
nice
