December 6, 2019, 5:40 AMLawmakers are demanding accountability after Customs and Border Protection officials took Carlos Vasquez to a cell instead of a hospital to be checked for the flu.
A week later, Vasquez came down with a 103-degree fever and tested positive for the flu, according to an autopsy report obtained by ABC News. The Department of Homeland Security's inspector general did not immediately respond to a request for comment on whether it was investigating the case.
