A U.S.-Canadian dual citizen was among those killed in Gaza, World Central Kitchen said. The Israel Defense Forces said it would conduct a “thorough review.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday that Israel’s military struck civilians in the Gaza Strip in an unintentional “tragic incident,” after food aid nonprofit World Central Kitchen said seven of its aid workers were killed while distributing food. “Our forces unintentionally hit innocent people in the Gaza Strip,” Netanyahu said in a video shared on X.

” Hagari said he spoke to the aid group’s founder, celebrity chef José Andrés, to express his condolences on behalf of the entire Israeli military. Hagari also announced plans to launch an investigation into the incident by the military’s independent Fact Finding and Assessment Mechanism. “We have been reviewing the incident at the highest levels to understand the circumstances of what happened and how it happened,” he said.
