Microsoft warns employees not to share 'sensitive data' with ChatGPT

The cozy relationship between the two companies may lead to a potential conflict of interest for Microsoft, as it can benefit from OpenAI obtaining more training data, according to, a computer science professor and director of an artificial intelligence lab at Carnegie Mellon University. It doesn't mean Microsoft will behave in an irresponsible way, but"it's always good to be aware of incentives," he added.

"Human beings sign NDAs and consequently have incentives to be careful in how they share information. But large language models such as ChatGPT do not have the ability to reason about such issues, at least by default," Conitzer told Insider.for any questions regarding its data and privacy policies. In December, a few weeks after ChatGPT launched publicly, a group of Amazon employees asked in an internal Slack channel whether they could use the chatbot for work.
