An engineered bacterial enzyme turbocharges the manufacture of molnupiravir, an antiviral drug used to treat COVID-19Molnupiravir is one of the few approved drugs that can prevent severe COVID-19. But current methods for preparing it require multiple steps and yield relatively low amounts of the drug.-hydroxy-cytidine: just one chemical reaction converts it to molnupiravir.
