U.S. Citizens Arrested After Alleged Coup Attempt In The Democratic Republic Of The Congo: Here’s What We Know So FarEx-attorney Michael Cohen ’s testimony at former President Donald Trump ’s ongoing criminal trial stretched into a second week Monday, as prosecutors got a second chance to question the central witness after Trump attorney Todd Blanche wrapped up his dayslong cross-examination.
After Cohen testified that he did little legal work for Trump in 2017—which undercuts Trump’s arguments that his reimbursement checks to Cohen were properly labeled as being for “legal services”—Blanche challenged that on Thursday, asking Cohen about work he did for Trump and wife Melania in 2017 and noting Cohen openly boasted about now serving as the then-president’s personal attorney.
Blanche then wrapped up his cross-examination and prosecutors questioned Cohen again, with prosecutor Susan Hoffinger countering Blanche’s suggestion about phone calls and getting Cohen to reassert that he was on the phone with Trump before the 2016 election to discuss the Daniels deal.that the reimbursement payment he received from Trump was not for legal services, as the payments are labeled—which prosecutors allege constitutes falsifying business records.
