Mexico’s Supreme Court recently ruled that interior immigration checkpoints are unconstitutional since they violate the right to equality and non-discrimination.

The ruling came after the Institute for Women in Migration helped a group of three indigenous people from Chiapas file an injunction after INM agents detained them in 2015 because they did not look Mexican and pressured them into signing documents stating they were from Guatemala.

It remains unclear how much of an impact the removal of such checkpoints will have on immigration sinceUnder pressure from the U.S. government, several Mexican border states have recently implemented checkpoints with the help of Mexico’s INM to stop buses with migrants from reaching the border. Alaska Supreme Court rejects redrawn Senate map, orders use of interim political map for state electionsThe Alaska Supreme Court affirmed a lower court ruling that the board tasked with redrawing the state’s political boundaries had “again engaged in unconstitutional political gerrymandering” and ordered a new map be used for this year’s elections. So this means your executives will get to choose politicians more to their liking and profit? Congratulations! That must have been some seriously annoying shit in your own backyard. I mean—my own approach would be to win Pulitzers with actual journalism…but this works, too. When the Supreme Court calls you out for gerrymandering lol
