How to celebrate Mexican Independence Day, El Grito, in NYC:

September 16, 2019 marks Mexican Independence Day and honors the start of Mexico's War of Independence from Spain. To celebrate, Manhattan will be lighting up its streets with color, music and dance in a major parade over the weekend., with thousands of people attending in a celebration of Mexico and its culture.has provided a guide on how to get around on the day.The parade will take place on Sunday, September 15 from 12:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m. EST.

West 31st Street between 9th Avenue and Dyer Avenue: A full roadway closure for replacement of West 31st Street Bridge over Amtrak, beginning Friday, August 23, 2019 through Sunday, November 22, 2020.

East 48th Street between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue: This street will be fully closed 10 pm Friday to 11:59 pm Sunday to facilitate crane operation. West 56th Street 7th Avenue and 6th Avenue AKA Avenue of Americas: This street will be closed from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday to facilitate crane operation

West 95th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue: This street will be closed Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for major gas installation Catherine Street between Henry Street and Madison Street: This street will be closed Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. to facilitate major gas installation

Renwick Street between Spring Street and Canal Street: This street will be closed Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to facilitate crane operation Pike Street between Division Street and East Broadway: This street will be closed Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to facilitate crane operation
