Mets manager Carlos Mendoza and president of baseball operations David Stearns are both in their first season with the team.

New York Mets“has at times expected to be in trouble over in-game moves that went against the data, or at least to have to justify it to Stearns in his office after the game. But no scolding has yet occurred. Far from it.”The Mets hired Stearns, 39, last September. The Harvard graduate has previously served as president of baseball operations for the Milwaukee Brewers and assistant general manager of the Houston Astros.

Mendoza, 44, was hired after the Mets parted ways with Buck Showalter at the completion of the 2023 season. He had coached in the Yankees’ organization since 2009 and for the past four seasons as bench coach. The Mets improved to 15-14 on Tuesday with a 4-2 win over the Cubs. They’ll look to win the series Wednesday night at Citi Field.Did Yankees give up on Luis Severino too soon?
