Subway riders can now travel across Manhattan without their MetroCard. The MTA said Tuesday that it has completed installation of electronic readers for its new fare-payment system, OMNY, across all of the borough’s subway stations.

Traveling on trains and buses means potential exposure to the coronavirus, so cities are racing to make their public transit systems safe.

Best thing I’ve seen in a while was a video from Asia showing elevators w/ a screen projecting some type of hologram with floor numbers about an inch or two out from the screen. So when choosing a floor you dont need to make any contact between your finger & any buttons/screens

That's great, now you only need a $300 - $2000 smartphone to pay for your $5 fare!

It might have cost less by making public transport free and have it subsidized by taxes.

So many countries have been using such technology for over a decade. Nothing to brag

That is excellent a move to reduce crime I hope they f give the poorer class some free passes so that they would not try to override the system and create more crime. Remember all would not be able to afford it. With a massive unemployment system. Remember others.

Like 5 years behind London and 10 behind Asia...

one of the small blessings from covid. this is fantastic!

People just want sports, & you can't attack a black person for not promoting protests. usatodaysports Why are we worried about the NFL ? Isn't the People that have to make the change ? Always dumping problems that have ZERO to do with sports, at Sports Doorsteps ? Its a shame America.
