Mets pitcher Kodai Senga isn't happy with his mechanics and will be allowed to take his time before returning.Mets manager Carlos Mendoza did his best to try to explain the Senga mystery to reporters at Citi Field on Sunday.“He’s going to continue to work with his mechanics,” Mendoza said. “There will be days when he won’t throw and just do dry sessions, just to make sure he can repeat his delivery.
In short, the Mets are waiting for Senga to give them the okay to move forward in his progression, throwing lives again and then going on a rehab assignment. “When you’re dealing with your mechanics, whether your arm is not catching up, or you’re flying open, you’re putting individuals at risk of injury or reinjury,” Mendoza said. “And that’s the case here.”
Senga is eligible to be reinstated to the roster on May 27th, though it is looking more and more unlikely that he’ll be ready for big league action on that date.
