Boerne High School News

The marching band tied for the top spot in For Whom the Band Tolls, a nationwide competition judged by members of the iconic metal band.

After turning it up to 11 to win a national Metallica -sponsored competition, Boerne High School 's marching band has received $15,000 in equipment from the metal band. The high school band performed a medley of Metallica songs including ' Enter Sandman ' and 'Master of Puppets' in the inaugural For Whom the Band Tolls competition. In January, the performance was hand-selected by members of Metallica to tie for the top honor in the division for medium-sized high school bands.

Boerne High School and Malverne High School in New York were each promised $15,000 of instruments and equipment in reward for the win. The new gear arrived recently, and the Boerne marching band posed alongside shiny instruments in a social media post from Boerne Independent School District. 'Thank you to Metallica for the equipment,' the school district wrote, also congratulating the marching band.
