She weighs in on the socialism versus capitalism debate and anti-vaxxers in a new interview.

The philanthropist and wife of Microsoft MSFT, -0.14% co-founder Bill Gates weighed in on the socialism vs. capitalism debate in a CNBC interview Wednesday morning.

Her comments come as U.S. politicians have heatedly argued the merits of both economic systems leading up to the 2020 presidential race. Vice President Mike Pence has said the next election is a choice between “freedom and socialism,” for example.

Melinda Gates agreed. “I think we all do better as a globe when countries can grow from low, to middle income, to high income,” she said. “And so I think we need to look at our system and say, ‘OK, what are the great things about it? And what are the things that, at this point in time, we need to adjust and change?’”

Melinda is Gates

For anyone dreaming about socialism I will tell you story about Czechoslovakia. Before WWII one of the most developed countries in the world. In 1989 after 40 yrs of socialism our parents were queuing hours to get toilet paper, bananas, youghurts etc. That was true socialism

BrandonVanZee Melinda please. You are so removed from society, you may as well be from another planet. NoMoreBillionairOpinions.

mrtgr Yeah...well, it has worked out pretty well for her, I guess. And, let’s be honest, her Bilderberg Group friends might not be pleased if she voiced the unpopular opinion that all people deserve to have basic needs met.

Yeah because you have more money than you'd ever need

Another idiot who does not the difference between socialism, and socialist. And democratic socialism. They are all different, actually. So much for better education when wealthy.

Yes, most sane people would.

Really? Who would have thought that she feels that way.

Millionaire’s can ‘afford’ to say ANYTHING because words are free. For them, there are no consequences or accountability. My paycheque doesn’t recognize socialism, capitalism, communism or theft. I wake up every morning feeling robbed. capitalism money thought

Amen to that, send Bernie Sanders packing.

Please, anyone, put this in all your networks. This is the most simple way to tell how good capitalism is.

You think?

Says every single human being WITH A BRAIN!!!

US is not lucky to have corrupt Trump/Putin kleptocratic socialism, subsidies and protectionism for inefficient industries, payouts, bailouts, nepotism, simony, favoritism, anti-free enterprise, anti-free market dirty, dodgy socialism while undermining US and Western security.

But we are not lucky to have corrupt Trump/Putin socialism of protectionism for inefficient industries, payouts, bailouts, d!mony

I'd prefer to live in a capitalist society with well rounded social programs that maximize individuals potential, i.e. universal healthcare and affordable education.

We have never operated under a true system of “capitalism.”

Gold digger

She would......... she has the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ 🙄

Ppl are merely talking about enhanced or real safety nets. Democratic capitalism.

same :)

I wonder why 🤔

Political Capitalism is what she's 'lucky' to have, not capitalism

Well, she would, wouldn't she? Not exactly having to fill shelves at Walmart, is she?
