Megan Thee Stallion , Mark Wahlberg and Cody Johnson all will be part of the Astros' pregame festivities on opening day Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Minute Maid Park.The Astros are celebrating the beginning of the season with a slate of celebrities for the first series against the White Sox.
For Thursday's opening day at Minute Maid Park, Houston rapper and three-time Grammy Award winner Megan Thee Stallion will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Country music star and Huntsville native Cody Johnson will sing the national anthem and actor Mark Wahlberg will call"Play ball." Friday's game, which starts at 7:10 p.m., will have another trio of familiar faces with Lyle Lovett singing the national anthem, recently retired Astros catcher Jason Castro throwing out the first pitch and Houston rapper Paul Wall calling"Play ball."
Country singer Parker McCollum, who grew up in Conroe and was the opening act at this year's Houston Rodeo, will throw out the first pitch Saturday and Danielle Bradbery, winner of The Voice in 2013, will sing the national anthem. The opening series also will be filled with pregame ceremonies and fan giveaways for everyone in attendance. Before Thursday's game, the 2022 World Series pennant will be unveiled above the Crawford Boxes and fans will receive a schedule magnet. Friday's game will feature the pregame ring ceremony for the players with fans receiving replica championship trophies.
