CLEVELAND, Ohio -- McRib returns to McDonald’s on October 31, and, if we’re to believe the Golden Arches at their word, it could be your last chance to, ahem, enjoy one of them.
“Get one while you can because this is the McRib Farewell Tour,” the fast-food chain said on its website. “Enjoy our famous pork sandwich as if it’s your last!” McDonald’s says the messy barbecue sandwich, with its distinctive pork patty shaped like a slab of ribs, will be available through Nov. 20. The concoction originally made its debut in 1982 before disappearing for a while. The company brought McRib back here and there over the years as a limited-time offering, which helped it gain a cult following. When McDonald’s put the item back on the menu in 2005, it called the promotion a “Farewell Tour,” too. But the sandwich kept popping up regionally before the chain began selling it again nationally for a month or so at a time in 2012, 2020 and 2021.
