Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe called on opponent Glenn Youngkin to condemn the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, labeling the use of a flag from the deadly riot at a Republican rally a “racist dog whistle”

Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe called on opponent Glenn Youngkin to condemn the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, labeling the use of a flag from the deadly riot at a Republican rally in the state a “racist dog whistle.”

“People have fought and died to protect the right to democracy and these thugs go here on Jan. 6 and destroy? People died. Law enforcement died,” McAuliffe told MSNBC on Thursday. “And they were pledging allegiance to a flag they wanted to use up there to destroy our democracy.” While Youngkin was not in attendance at Wednesday’s rally, former Trump administration chief strategist Steve Bannon did address the crowd. Trump addressed the crowd, as well, telling rallygoers via telephone that “Glenn Youngkin is a great gentleman,” before delving into his long-debunked claims that last year’s presidential election was stolen.

It seems McAuliffe does know political dog whistles really well - as demonstrated here. Anything to draw attention away from his struggling campaign issues.

ICYMI

McAuliffe is going down and he knows it.

When a Democrat candidate is in trouble in the polls, what should a Democrat do? Checks the manual….. Oh - charge racism and sprinkle in Trump. 🙄

Jan. 6 committee subpoenas former Justice Dept. lawyerWASHINGTON (AP) — The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol issued a subpoena Wednesday to a former Justice Department lawyer who positioned himself as an ally of President Donald Trump and aided Trump’s efforts to challenge the results of the presidential election. 'Two additional organizers, Ali Alexander and Nathan Martin, as well as their “Stop the Steal” organization, were also subpoenaed for documents...' So I guess we can assume that the US Marshals know where Ali Alexander is, at least well enough to serve him w/ the subpoena. Ennforce the subpoenas and protect American democracy! Democrats are grasping at straws on this one. Democrats are losing in the polls on the economy, Afghanistan, crime and the southern border.
